Things To Do This Summer

AKA Things To Do To Get My Mind Off Of Some Things

1. Get my own kitchen where I don't need to maneuver between frozen pizza boxes to cook.

2. Make lots of Indian food.

3. Actually use the dual quart ice cream maker I bought two years ago.

4. Try out every sangria recipe I come across.

5. Throw a fish taco party with crazy amounts of beer.

6. Actually use all the produce I get my Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box.

7. Buy enough cherries to perfect clafoutis and stock up on homemade cherry brandy.

8. Learn how to jar all those peach preserves I plan on making.

9. Get to know a home brewer. For selfish carnal reasons, only.

10. Build up the alcohol tolerance in the summer heat.

Can I come to the fish taco party if I promise not to assign anyone homework or correct their grammar?

Selfish Carnal Reasons....I can only imagine what carnal needs will be fed...

I love it. Half your goals involve booze.
That'll get your mind off some things.
Good luck with the kitchen quest.

Interesting lists... i can't believe that you have an ice cream maker and have never used it? Surely that's a sin?! lol. Good luck on your new kitchen.

an admirable summer to do list!

I'm getting started on #4 on Friday, personally.

oooh.

sangria.

someone told me the secret ingredient to the best sangria EVER is orange fanta!

What a great list! I think all are worthy causes...except #2. That one goes in the "too hard" pile.

Oooooh! I second your entire list - especially the parts involving cherry clafoutis and/or alcohol!

I'm looking forward to helping you out on your list. I make a pretty mean fish taco using Lone Star's recipe. It is grilled not fried.

Kalyn—absolutely. Utah bloggers will join forces again!

Dwight—is it that hard to guess?

cookiecrumb—booze is always part of the equation. it really does simplify my thinking process. :) btw, found a new kitchen. will be cooking in it by next month!

mae—i know, it's blasphemy. i used it a couple of times for parties, but never bothered to bring it out. probably because the bins i needed to freeze were always at room temperature when i got the urge to make ice cream. so i made granita or semifreddo instead. i'm so lazy :)

barbie2be—and admirable, and hopefully, accomplished one!

BNA—report back. i love sangria dialogue.

sarah—i believe it. kinda like the best secret ingredients to nang myun is 7-Up and to kalbi is a bottle of sugar cane Coca-Cola :)

Sara—that's what i'm trying to overcome. i love eating the stuff but have no idea how to cook it.

Rorie—when you eventually make it to Utah, we should make clafoutis and sip booze during one of these gorgeous desert nights!

Christi—you know you're going to be involved in every single item. we've tackled gnocchi and fresh pasta. next, the world!

Vanessa, I sent you an e-mail and posted on my blog about a Utah Bloggers Conference Tuesday night. I'm going. Want to go?

Oh where oh where has my little V gone...

Oh where oh where can she be?

Has she run away...

Down south to a cafe...

To forget about life for a day?

Vanessa - hope you'll get your own kitchen soon and use the ice-cream machine :)

How about brewing yourself?

Fish tacos? Sangria? Where has this food blog been all my life??? You just found yourself another loyal reader. I can't wait to read the archives!

Here's a summer cocktail that goes down easy...Sip and Go Naked...
make for a crowd
5 Beers, 1 can of lemonade(don't add water) then fill up lemonade can with vodka-serve with a piece of mint and put a skull and crossbones on the container!!

I am loving your list! I am off to think of my summer list now. :o)
